Penetrometer Testing Patchway Tunnels
Corehard are currently assisting in project to determine ground conditions in area around and above Patchway Rail Tunnels. Tertiary grid locations have been plotted for penetrometer testing on adjacent rail embankments to varying depths which will assist in providing engineers with valuable information relating to underlying ground conditions. The method employed is by using rope techniques to for operatives to abseil down the steep inclines allowing tests to be taken at varying distances from formation layer using the portable Panda 2 penetrometer. This provides definitive resistance measurement at each location therefore allowing a comprehensive overview of the entire area to determine condition of embankments without affecting rail traffic through costly and time consuming track possession.
